“Eu poderia ter escolhido ficar no meu quarto, triste, mas optei por sair e ser feliz”. O relato é da modelo amputada e patinadora Fernanda Venancio, de 20 anos, moradora do bairro Marilândia, na divisa com Ibirité, região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil.
A jovem nasceu com linfangioma, uma má formação vascular que atingiu o pé direito dela. “Tentei vários tratamentos, durante muito tempo. Fiz incontáveis cirurgias, mas nada resolveu. A dor era grande. Aos 15 anos, o médico me explicou que eu poderia ter ainda mais complicações e, por isso, optamos pela amputação”, conta Fernanda ao BHAZ.
Modelo e patinadora
Com apoio incondicional da família, a jovem conseguiu se tornar modelo e atuar em algumas campanhas. “Meu pai, minha mãe e minha irmã são tudo para mim. Às vezes eles acreditam mais do que eu”, brinca a modelo.
“Por incentivo do meu pai, comecei a fazer patinação artística aos 18 anos. Hoje patino por hobbie mesmo. Tanto em BH quanto em Minas, não tem muito espaço para pessoas amputadas competirem”, explicou a jovem.
Depois de algum tempo, ela começou a modelar. “Alguns amigos e familiares falavam que eu era bonita, que eu poderia ser modelo. Fui em uma agência, fiz um book e, a partir daí, começaram a surgir pequenos trabalhos. Nada profissional, mas é algo que quero para o futuro”, relata.
Com mais de 10 mil seguidores no Instagram, a jovem procura mostrar sua rotina e ajudar quem está passando por uma situação semelhante. “Teve uma época que precisei de ajuda, agora é hora de retribuir. As coisas sempre passam, sejam boas ou ruins. A batalha maior está na nossa mente, o que decidimos é o que conta”, conta a jovem.
“Quero tocar vidas com a minha história”
Fernanda minimiza seus problemas e pensa em futuro bom. “A vida é muito mais que a perda de minha perna. As oportunidades que tenho hoje, não tinha antes. Quero tocar vidas com a minha história, poder ajudar de alguma forma”.
Ser modelo profissional é o sonho da jovem. “Infelizmente ainda sofremos muito preconceito. Não é todo mundo que quer [uma modelo amputada], mas eu ainda acredito nas pessoas, que ainda vou conseguir. Eventualmente, as portas vão se abrir de verdade. Todo mundo merece uma oportunidade de mostrar quem é”, completa.

Model and skater
With unconditional support from the family, she was able to become a role model and act in some campaigns. "My father, my mother and my sister are everything to me. Sometimes they believe more than I do, "jokes the model.
"At the encouragement of my father, I began skating at 18. Today I skate for the same hobbie. In both BH and Minas, there is not much room for amputees to compete, "she explained.
After some time, she began to model. "Some friends and family said that I was pretty, that I could be a model. I went to an agency, I made a book, and from there small jobs began to appear. Nothing professional, but something I want for the future, "he says.
With more than 10,000 followers on Instagram, the young woman tries to show her routine and help those who are going through a similar situation. "There was a time when I needed help, now it's time to give back. Things always pass, whether good or bad. The biggest battle is in our minds, what we decide is what counts, "says the young woman.
"I want to touch lives with my story"
Fernanda minimizes her problems and thinks in good future. "Life is much more than the loss of my leg. The opportunities I have today, I did not have before. I want to touch lives with my story, to be able to help in some way. "
Being a professional model is the young girl's dream. "Unfortunately we still suffer a lot of prejudice. It's not everyone who wants [an amputated model], but I still believe in people, that I will still be able to. Eventually, the doors will really open. Everyone deserves an opportunity to show who they are. "
