Antes de partir em busca do título mundial no skate downhill, eles falaram sobre a preparação e expectativas para o evento, que será também uma apresentação do downhill e vertical ao Comitê Olímpico Internacional (COI).
A idéia é que as modalidades possam se tornar olímpicas em 2024, na França. Em Tóquio 2020, apenas o park e o street serão disputados.
Douglas Silva, o Dalua
Para Dalua, de 36 anos, tricampeão mundial (open 2012/13 e máster 2018), a convocação mudou sua vida, pois havia pensado em parar de correr mundiais. Ele diz estar bem preparado para correr na Espanha. "Estou treinando há quatro ou cinco meses sem parar, focado nessa convocação e nesse evento. Vou a Barcelona com o objetivo de que se eu ganhar sou campeão mundial do ano, posso ser quatro vezes campeão do mundo", destacou Dalua, que no fim de semana passado venceu a 1a etapa do Brasileiro profissional, no Paraná. "Fui para me testar, competi com os melhores do Brasil, ser campeão prova que estou conseguindo voltar a ser um atleta open", reforçou.
Melissa Brogni
Melissa Brogni, de 20 anos, pentacampeã sul-americana (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 e 2018), bicampeã mundial (2013 e 2014) e vice-campeã do ranking mundial (2017), afirmou ter iniciado a preparação há cerca de três meses.
"Estou fazendo academia e pilates, treinando bastante, pra quando chegar lá poder aproveitar o máximo, andar bastante, porque o nível vai ser bem alto. Só as meninas selecionadas estarão nesse evento, as melhores que vão competir.
A vontade de fazer um pódio é grande, venho treinando para isso, falta pouco para pôr em prática o que adquiri nesses três meses", ressaltou Mel.
Yan Bertinati
Yan Bertinati, 22 anos, afirmou ter sido surpreendido pela convocação. "Após o acidente do nosso amigo Alysson, no Rio, no ano passado, organizei-me para ficar por casa e competir somente nos campeonatos brasileiros, auxiliando na segurança dos eventos", afirmou.
"Fico honrado e lisonjeado de fazer parte deste time e representar todos os monstros que o Brasil tem no downhill, e que lutam por mais apoio", disse. Yan garante que tem realizado treinos específicos que se assemelham com os desafios na Espanha.
"Não vou esconder, a ansiedade para este evento está grande", completou o skatista de São Leopoldo.

"I'm doing gym and pilates, training a lot, so when I get there I can make the most of it, I'm going to ride a lot, because the level is going to be very high.
The desire to make a podium is great, I have been training for this, it is not enough to put into practice what I acquired in those three months, "said Mel.

Yan Bertinati, 22, said he was surprised by the call. "After the accident of our friend Alysson, in Rio, last year, I organized to stay at home and compete only in the Brazilian championships, helping in the safety of events," he said.
"I am honored and flattered to be part of this team and represent all the monsters that Brazil has downhill, and who are fighting for more support," he said. Yan guarantees that he has carried out specific training that resembles the challenges in Spain.
"I'm not going to hide, the anxiety for this event is great," added the skater from Sao Leopoldo.
