O ano de 2020 terá um calendário recheado de competições esportivas e a primeira delas será Jogos Olímpicos de Inverno e da Juventude em Lausanne, a Suíça.
Lausanne é uma cidade no Lago Genebra, na região de língua francesa de Vaud, na Suíça. Abriga a sede do Comitê Olímpico Internacional, além do Museu Olímpico e do Parque Olímpico.
Longe do lago, o bairro antigo montanhoso tem ruas medievais, repletas de lojas e uma catedral gótica do século 12, com a fachada ornamentada. O Palais de Rumine, do século 19, tem museus de arte e de ciências.
As candidaturas foram entregues até 28 de Novembro de 2013, com as cidades candidatas a serem reveladas no dia 5 de Dezembro de 2014.
Lausanne foi eleita como cidade sede em 31 de Julho de 2015.
O programa dos Jogos Olímpicos de Inverno da Juventude de 2020 irá consistir de 8 esportes e 16 disciplinas. O esqui - montanhismo e o combinado nórdico feminino irão fazer parte de um evento olímpico pela primeira vez.
Dentre as provas,esta será a primeira disputa do evento das duplas femininas no luge e de um torneio de hóquei sobre o gelo no formato 3x3 (os times serão composto por equipes de Comitês Olímpicos Nacionais mistos).
A abertura oficial do torneio será no dia 9 janeiro, mas as disputam começam no dia seguinte.

Eu acho que realmente ajudou meu desenvolvimento como atleta, tanto mental quanto fisicamente. É uma experiência maravilhosa expor essas crianças a serem atletas e esportistas responsáveis, além de conhecer novas pessoas, ter uma mente aberta e se preparar para a ocasião. Pode ser realmente refrescante para eles ver que fazem parte de um mundo maior, com muitos outros atletas de diferentes países e esportes diferentes. '

Patrick Chan é o patinador masculino mais decorado da história do Canadá. The year 2020 will have a packed calendar of sporting competitions and the first one will be the Winter and Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Lausanne is a town on Lake Geneva in the French-speaking Vaud region of Switzerland. It houses the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, as well as the Olympic Museum and the Olympic Park.
Far from the lake, the hilly old quarter has medieval streets lined with shops and a 12th century Gothic cathedral with an ornate façade. The 19th-century Palais de Rumine has art and science museums.
Applications were submitted by November 28, 2013, with candidate cities to be revealed on December 5, 2014.
Lausanne was elected host city on July 31, 2015.
The 2020 Youth Winter Games program will consist of 8 sports and 16 disciplines. Mountaineering and Nordic women's combined will be part of an Olympic event for the first time.
Among the events, this will be the first match of the women's doubles event at the luge and a 3x3 ice hockey tournament (the teams will consist of teams of mixed National Olympic Committees).
The official opening of the tournament will be on January 9, but the matches start the next day.

I can't wait to share my perspective with these athletes because it really helped me move on. Sometimes you can see things more clearly when you take a few steps back, and I definitely see my career in a different way now. I hope these athletes aren't dealing with problems like this, but I hope I can help them somehow. I've been through all the ups and downs of life as an athlete, so I can remind you that it's about pursuing your goals. '
How much did you know about the young man before becoming an arm?
“Obviously, I've never had a chance to try YOG, but from what I've heard and seen, I feel it's a wonderful opportunity and I wish I had the chance to compete in something like that when I was a junior athlete. I think it really helped my development as an athlete, both mentally and physically. It is a wonderful experience to expose these children to being responsible athletes and sportsmen, to meet new people, to be open-minded, and to prepare for the occasion. It can be really refreshing for them to see that they are part of a larger world, with many other athletes from different countries and different sports. '

Patrick Chan is the most decorated male figure skater in Canadian history. A three-time world champion, he won Olympic gold in the team event at PyeongChang 2018 to go with his two silver medals from Sochi 2014. In January 2018, he won his 10th national title to break the all-time record held by Montgomery Wilson since 1939.
Chan made his Olympic debut as a 19-year-old at Vancouver 2010 where he finished fifth, after having suffered a muscle tear in his calf in the fall of 2009 and changing coaches just before the national championships.
After winning world championship silvers in 2009 and 2010 he claimed the next three world titles (2011-13), the first man to accomplish that feat since Russian Alexei Yagudin (1998-00) and the first Canadian since Kurt Browning (1989-91). At Sochi 2014, Chan won Canada’s fifth Olympic silver in the men’s event and helped Canada win silver in the inaugural team event. After that, he took a one-year hiatus from competition before returning in 2015-16.
Chan made his senior international debut in 2006 when he was just 15. After taking silver at the 2007 World Junior Championships, he won his first senior national title in January 2008, not long after his 17th birthday. His first world championship medal came at age 18. Chan had one of his best seasons in 2010-11 when he set world record scores to claim his first world title. His efforts earned him the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canadian Athlete of the Year and the Lionel Conacher Award as Canadian Male Athlete of the Year.
