No dia 8, Marcelo de Vries, atleta de BMX Free Style de Carambeí, embarca para os Estados Unidos onde participa do Van Pro Cup, plataforma mundial da elite do BMX Park e Bowl, um dos principais campeonatos ao reunir atletas de todo mundo e abrir portas para muitos esportistas poderem participar ao lado de grandes nomes do esporte mundial.
Marcelinho já participou de competições internacionais, como em Den Haag, Holanda, no 2º Pro freestyle em 2017. “Estou muito empolgado, minha primeira viagem para os EUA com aquele sentimento de friozinho na barriga bom de sentir e minha expectativa é muito boa, estou muito confiante no que vou fazer também, muito preparado e concentrado”, comenta.
O atleta é patrocinado pelo Frederica’s Koffiehuis, que há 2 anos acredita no potencial do atleta. “Buscamos sempre destacar a cultura e o esporte local, seja pelas tortas, que já se tornaram um marco para a cidade, e pelo incentivo a atletas, tal como o Marcelinho, por isso estamos bastante felizes com a participação dele neste evento”, comenta o diretor administrativo, Christian Dykstra.
Atualmente, Marcelinho possui grande reconhecimento no BMX, sendo considerado um dos melhores da América Latina com vários títulos, como o de vice-campeão mundial na etapa BMX Worlds na Alemanha e vice-campeão brasileiro no Jump festival edição Barueri e na 2ª etapa BMX Spine Arnold Extreme RJ.
