O encontro com a ciclista Paola Reis e o velejador Rafael Martins ocorreu durante o Papo Correria, transmitido ao vivo pelas redes sociais.
Os medalhistas são apoiados pelo Governo do Estado, através do FazAtleta e do Bolsa Esporte, programas que apoiam diretamente à prática de esportes e são executados pela Superintendência dos Desportos do Estado da Bahia (Sudesb), órgão vinculado à Secretaria do Trabalho, Emprego, Renda e Esporte do Estado (Setre).
“No Peru, a Bahia foi destaque no Pan, com a conquista de dez medalhas em diferentes modalidades, inclusive boxe e canoagem. Além do apoio ofertado pelos programas do governo estadual, vamos intensificar a busca por parcerias com a iniciativa privada, afinal, precisamos ampliar o apoio aos atletas que representam tão bem o nosso estado”, afirmou Rui.
O titular da Setre, Davidson Magalhães, e o diretor-geral da Sudesb, Vicente Neto, acompanharam os atletas durante o Papo Correria. “Além do FazAtleta e do Bolsa Esporte, o governo possui uma série de programas que formam uma política estadual ativa de esporte e lazer. São ações que geram resultados e incluem socialmente”, ressaltou Vicente.
A medalha de prata nos jogos, na modalidade Bicicross (BMX), foi conquista pela baiana Paola Reis. A jovem, de 20 anos, fez sua primeira participação em um Pan-Americano. “Por ser baiana e nordestina, conquistar essa medalha é uma grande honra, inclusive pelo fato de o BMX não ter tanta visibilidade no Brasil. Desde os 11 anos, quando eu comecei a andar de bike, eu conto com apoio do Governo do Estado, e isso teve peso na minha carreira”, revelou a Paola.
O velejador Rafael Martins garantiu a medalha de bronze na categoria Vela Snipe, na companhia da esposa Juliana Duque. “É importante agradecer o apoio do governo baiano, através do Bolsa Esporte, que ajuda muito a gente nos campeonatos e na nossa trajetória como um todo. A participação no Pan era nosso primeiro grande objetivo e nós saímos de Lima com a medalha de bronze. Agora, iremos iniciar o treinamento em outra categoria na vela, pois a Snipe não é olímpica, para podermos lutar por uma participação nos próximos Jogos Olímpicos”, destacou o baiano.
Além dos três parcipantes do encontro, outros atletas baianos garantiram medalhas no Pan 2019.

Governor Rui Costa, (Bahia, Brazil) received in the early afternoon of Wednesday (14), the Bahian athletes who won medals at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

Setre starter Davidson Magalhães and Sudesb general director Vicente Neto accompanied the athletes during the Papo Correria. “In addition to FazAtleta and Bolsa Esporte, the government has a number of programs that form an active state sports and leisure policy. The silver medal in the games, in Bicicross (BMX) mode, was won by Bahia Paola Reis. The 20-year-old made her first appearance in a Pan American. “Being Bahian and Northeastern, winning this medal is a great honor, including the fact that BMX is not so visible in Brazil. Since I was 11 years old, when I started biking, I have had support from the State Government, and that has had weight in my career, ”said Paola.
The sailor Rafael Martins secured the bronze medal in the category Sail Snipe, in the company of his wife Juliana Duque. “It is important to thank the support of the Bahian government, through Bolsa Esporte, which helps us a lot in the championships and in our trajectory as a whole. Participating in the Pan was our first big goal and we left Lima with the bronze medal. Now we will start training in another category in sailing, because Snipe is not Olympic, so we can fight for a participation in the next Olympic Games, ”said the Bahian.
In addition to the three participants of the meeting, other athletes from Bahia secured medals at Pan 2019.
