Com presença dos principais atletas do continente, a prova de BMX Freestyle Park chamou a atenção do público no último dia dos Jogos Pan-Americanos de Lima 2019. Essa foi a primeira vez que a modalidade fez parte da competição.
A prova teve início com a “Seeding Fase”, uma espécie de prólogo, onde cada piloto dá duas voltas valendo pontos virtuais apenas para definir a ordem de largada da fase final.
Na briga por medalhas, Derlayne Roque terminou a prova feminina na 7ª colocação.
A americana Hannah Roberts, terceira no último mundial, ficou com a medalha de ouro, seguida pela chilena Macarena Peréz, com a prata, e a argentina Agustina Roth, que levou o bronze.
No masculino, Cauan Madona conquistou a sexta colocação. O primeiro lugar foi para o venezuelano Daniel Dhers, enquanto o argentino Jose Torres e o americano Justin Dowell terminaram na segunda e terceira colocações, respectivamente.
“Foi uma experiência muito importante para o amadurecimento geral da modalidade no Brasil.
A competição teve um excelente nível, com presença de medalhistas mundiais e outros campeões.
Nossos atletas fizeram uma prova consciente e conseguimos finalizar com uma boa apresentação”, declarou Diogo Canina, Coordenador do BMX Freestyle na CBC.
