Japinha, como é conhecido, é uma das grandes revelações do skate vertical nacional. No ano passado, venceu o Desafio de Skate Vert Battle em Jacareí.
No início desse ano, terminou em terceiro no Brasileiro de Skate em Florianópolis, à frente do ídolo Pedro Barros.
"Agora, preciso aprender a dirigir", disse, envergonhado, o skatista que planeja tirar sua habilitação para continuar com a moto, mas antes terá um outro desafio: no próximo mês, disputa o World Roller Games, de 4 a 6 de julho em Barcelona, ao lado de outros dois representantes brasileiros, Roni Gomes e Ítalo Penarrubia, na única etapa de vertical do circuito - ou seja, o campeão se consagra como melhor do mundo.
Para chegar a vitória, Japinha teve de exibir manobras de alto grau de dificuldade, como um 540 nose grab, no qual se dá um giro de 540 graus segurando o bico do skate, suficiente para bater seus rivais.
Felipe Foguinho ficou em segundo lugar, João Gasparetto foi o terceiro, Miguel Oliveira, o quarto, e Pedro Volpi, o quinto. Outro destaque da competição, foi a prova de "Cash for Tricks", de melhor manobra, que provocou congestionamento de skatistas na piscina em uma tumultuada jam session.
Nela, o catarinense João Vitor, o Bito, desafiou os limites da pista, subiu nas arquibancadas e se atirou de lá de cima para dentro da piscina com apenas com um pé no skate, o backside boneless, de quase seis metros de altura. Faturou R$ 1.500 reais pela façanha.
"Eu fiz cara feia para superar o medo do paredão. A adrenalina correu solta na hora de tomar essa atitude com muita intensidade e fazer a galera entrar em delírio", contou Bito, sobre a emoção de completar a manobra arriscada.
A festa, que lotou as arquibancadas, e ocupou a piscina semiolímpica de ladrilhos com transição arredondada do Clube Jequitibá - uma das poucas do Brasil, acontece pelo quarto ano seguido, mas pode ser a última: a diretoria quer quebrar o equipamento para uma reforma.
"Por que destruir, acabar com essa piscina? O skate é o segundo esporte do Brasil em número de praticantes e estará sendo representado nas próximas Olimpíadas.
Não destruam", protestou, emocionado, o organizador do evento, Luiz Felipe Vital, que foi seguido em coro pela grande plateia, em noite de lua cheia e com fogos de artifício na beira da Via Dutra.
"Não destruam a piscina!", foi o recado para fechar o evento.

No Park, Pedro Barros levou o ouro, com Luiz Francisco em quarto lugar. No street, Pamela Rosa subiu no ponto mais alto do pódio seguido por Leticia Bufoni. No masculino, Felipe Gustavo ocupou o terceiro lugar e Kelvin Hoefler, o quinto, mostrando a superioridade dos brasileiros na competição.
A próxima parada do skate mundial acontece nesse final de semana no Parque Cândido Portinari, segunda etapa internacional do Vans Park Series.
