Coimbra recebe, entre 06 e 07 de julho, a terceira edição do torneio internacional de ‘roller derby' da cidade, "o maior evento" deste esporte em Portugal, informou hoje a organização.

O Quad Cup 2019, organizado pela Câmara Municipal e pelas Rocket Dolls Roller Derby Coimbra, vai contar com a participação de equipes da França, Alemanha e Holanda, no Pavilhão Municipal Mário Mexia, refere a equipe da cidade, na nota de imprensa enviada à agência Lusa.

Segundo a equipa Rocket Dolls, o torneio arranca às 11:00 do dia 06 e termina com as finais às 13:00 do dia 07, estando prevista a cerimónia de entrega dos prémios para as 17:30.

A entrada para assistir aos jogos é livre.

O ‘roller derby' chegou a Portugal em 2011, com a fundação de uma liga no Porto, sendo que a equipe de Coimbra arrancou em 2014, tendo atualmente cerca de 25 atletas.

"As Rocket Dolls Roller Derby Coimbra são também uma entidade de formação, de convívio e de partilha e um grupo de mulheres fortes e determinadas, com diferentes trajetórias pessoais, que encontraram no ‘roller derby' um espote libertador e um espaço de auto-afirmação", sublinha a equipa, na nota de imprensa.
