O BMX Track Municipal de Setúbal recebeu neste fim de semana as duas primeiras voltas da Taça de Portugal na Corrida de BMX, com 120 atletas na prova, liderados pelo Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal na competição por equipas.
O evento desportivo, organizado pela Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo, a Associação de Ciclismo do Distrito de Setúbal e o Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal, com o apoio da Câmara Municipal, contou com a presença de atletas portugueses e estrangeiros.
A competição masculina foi dividida nas faixas etárias de Benjamins, iniciados, infantis, juvenis, cadetes, juniores e homens maiores de 19 anos, além das classes de mestres e cruzadores.
Houve também ensaios femininos em três grupos etários, de 5 a 10 anos, entre 11 e 14 anos e acima de 15 anos.
Destaque para André Ribeiro, do Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal, quando venceu as 1ª e 2ª rondas da Taça de Portugal na Corrida de BMX, realizadas respectivamente aos sábados e domingos.
Joana Rosa, de 5 a 10 anos, e Rita Xufre, de 11 a 14 anos, ambas do Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal, também venceram as duas etapas da competição nacional.
Os resultados alcançados pelos pilotos do Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal, com posições de pódio em vários escalões, colocaram a formação setubalense no topo da classificação da competição nacional por equipas.
No evento realizado na BMX Municipal Pista Setubal, instalado no Parque Verde da Bela Vista, também se destaca o espanhol Alejandro Kim, o Yellow Mad BMX, que venceu os dois dias na faixa etária dos maiores de 19 anos.
Catarina Veríssimo, da Equipa BMX de Quarteira, também teve um percurso impecável durante o início de semana da Taça de Portugal, quando venceu as duas provas femininas para atletas com mais de 15 anos.
A Taça de Portugal da BMX Race, troféu oficial da Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo, aberta a atletas federados e com um total de dez voltas, decorre de março a outubro de norte a sul do país.

The BMX Race - Portuguese Cup 1st and 2nd rounds - Setúbal.
The Municipal BMX Track Setúbal received this weekend the first two rounds of the Portuguese Cup in BMX Race, with 120 athletes in the race, led by the Bicross Nucleus Setubal in the team competition.
The sporting event, organized by the Portuguese Cycling Federation, the Cycling Association of the Setúbal District and the Bicross Nucleus of Setúbal, with the support of the City Council, was attended by Portuguese and foreign athletes.
The men's competition was divided in the age groups of Benjamins, initiates, infantile, juveniles, cadets, juniors and men over 19 years old, besides the classes of masters and cruisers.
There were also female trials in three age groups, from 5 to 10 years, between 11 and 14 years and over 15 years.
Highlight for André Ribeiro, from the Bicross Nucleus of Setúbal, when he won the 1st and 2nd rounds of the Portuguese Cup in BMX Race, held respectively on Saturday and Sunday.
Joana Rosa, from 5 to 10 years old, and Rita Xufre, from 11 to 14, both from the Bicross Nucleus of Setúbal, also won the two stages of the national competition.
The results achieved by the drivers of the Bicross Nucleus of Setúbal, with positions of podium in several echelons, put the formation setubalense at the top of the classification of the national competition by teams.
In the event held at the Municipal BMX Track Setubal, installed in the Green Park of Bela Vista, also highlights the Spanish Alejandro Kim, Yellow Mad BMX, who won both days in the age of men over 19 years.
Catarina Veríssimo, from Team BMX of Quarteira, also had an immaculate course during the Portuguese Cup starting weekend, when she won both women's races for athletes aged 15 and over.
The Portuguese Cup of BMX Race, official trophy of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, open to federated athletes and with a total of ten rounds, runs from March to October from north to south of the country.
