Em frente ao Parque Olímpico da Barra fica o centro comercial Rio 2, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
É a melhor opção para quem deseja comer na região olímpica da Barra da Tijuca. O local é cercado por prédios residenciais e conta com lojas, um supermercado e lanchonetes. Foi lá que encontrei, na última semana, com a elite do skate street mundial. Quem olhava o grupo de jovens tatuados com o skate nos pés não imaginava a importância daqueles garotos. Jovens de idade e gente grande nas contas bancárias.
Quando percebi que eram atletas profissionais, fiquei observando de longe enquanto matava a fome comendo o rodízio de mini hambúrguer. Depois de comerem os seus sanduíches e beberem seus refringentes, eles atravessaram de skate a avenida Embaixador Abelardo Bueno em direção ao Parque Olímpico. Os garotos eram, nada menos, do que os grandes astros da etapa final do Campeonato Mundial de Skate.
Ver a cena me fez entender a dinâmica da modalidade. Naqueles dias, acompanhei de perto a final do Mundial e senti o clima de liberdade que o esporte transmite. Descobri que skatista não é atleta. Skatista é skatista. Tem um estilo de vida, cultura e playlist própria. São jovens, desprendidos e ricos. Têm milhares de seguidores nas redes sociais. Os grandes nomes são patrocinados pela Nike, pela Adidas ou pela Vans – marca voltada para o universo da modalidade.
O skate virou esporte olímpico. A estreia será no ano que vem em Tóquio, no Japão. Sem dúvida, o Brasil vai com uma equipe forte. Ele será disputado nas categorias street (rua) e park (na pista que parece uma piscina), tanto no masculino quanto no feminino. Nos mundiais de Park e de Street mais recentes, o Brasil somou quatro pódios. Um ouro, com Pedro Barros, no Park, e duas pratas e um bronze no Street, com Kelvin Hoefler e Felipe Gustavo, em segundo e terceiro, e Letícia Bufoni com o vice-campeonato.
No feminino, Letícia Bufoni, fenômeno nas redes sociais, é o principal nome. Ela anda na prova de street, que simula obstáculos de rua. Letícia é a recordista de medalhas na prova nos X-Games – principal competição de esportes radicais. Foram oito pódios: três ouros, três bronzes e duas pratas. Ela foi a grande estrela na Arena Olímpica, com a torcida vibrando com cada manobra da brasileira.
O paulista Kelvin Hoefler foi o grande nome brasileiro no Parque Olímpico. Fiquei impressionado com a regularidade nas manobras de Kelvin. Em certos momentos, tive que olhar várias vezes ao telão para entender a complexidade das manobras do brasileiro. Poucas vezes uma final de Liga Mundial de Skate apresentou um nível técnico tão alto. Os oito atletas que entraram na disputa pelo título protagonizaram uma extensa lista de manobras que mereceram nota nove ou superior, o famoso “Club 9” no vocabulário da modalidade. Foram 14 notas “de luxo” registradas diante de mais de três mil espectadores no Parque Olímpico da Barra.
Kelvin Hoefler e o americano Nyjah Huston protagonizaram um duelo técnico pela disputa do ouro. Aproveitaram praticamente todas as sete oportunidades de apresentação que tiveram para pontuar de forma consistente. Ao fim, Nyjah somou 37.6 pontos (9.4, 9.2, 9.4 e 9.6), contra 37 de Kelvin (9.5, 9.5, 9 e 9). Com isso, o americano chegou a mais um título da principal competição do skate street profissional. Nyjah é assíduo colecionador de títulos e maior vencedor de etapas e das finais da Liga desde 2010. A terceira posição ficou com o brasiliense Felipe Gustavo, que somou 35,5.
Atualmente, a Seleção Brasileira de Skate conta com 21 atletas: Yndiara Asp, Isadora Pacheco, Letícia Gonçalves, Dora Varella, Victoria Bassi, Pedro Barros, Pedro Quintas, Luiz Francisco, Hericles Fagundes e Murilo Peres no Park. A equipe de street é formada por Pamela Rosa, Rayssa Leal, Virginia Fortes, Letícia Bufoni, Karen Feitosa, Gabriela Mazetto, Kelvin Hoefler, Felipe Gustavo, Tiago Lemos, Lucas Xaparral e Lucas Rabelo.

They have thousands of followers on social networks. The big names are sponsored by Nike, Adidas or Vans - brand focused on the universe of the sport.
The skateboard became an Olympic sport. The premiere will be next year in Tokyo, Japan. Undoubtedly, Brazil has a strong team. It will be played in the categories street and park (on the track that looks like a pool) in both the male and the female. In the most recent Park and Street world, Brazil has added four podiums. One gold, with Pedro Barros in the Park, and two silver and bronze in the Street, with Kelvin Hoefler and Felipe Gustavo, second and third, and Letícia Bufoni with the runner-up.
In the feminine, Letícia Bufoni, phenomenon in social networks, is the main name. She walks in the street test, which simulates street obstacles.
