O hip hop - o fenômeno da música, dança, arte e moda que passou de ruas ásperas a suítes chiques em cinco décadas - está recebendo seu próprio museu em seu local de nascimento no Bronx, Nova York.
Uma pequena exibição pop-up fornece uma prévia da residência permanente do Universal Hip Hop Museum, programada para abrir em 2023 para celebrar a história global da cultura.
Até o momento, "não existe um local físico dedicado à preservação e celebração da história e da cultura do hip hop", disse o diretor executivo do museu, Rocky Bucano.
O museu, sonhado pelos rappers Kurtis Blow, Afrika Bambaataa e Grão-mestre Melly Mel, oito anos atrás, buscará garantir que "as histórias possam ser contadas com precisão pelas pessoas que criaram a história", acrescentou Bucano.
Outros rappers-produtores-empreendedores tornaram-se parceiros no projeto, incluindo Nas, Ice-T e LL Cool J.
O hip hop nasceu na parte sul do bairro do Bronx, em Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, no final da década de 1970. Os elementos de dança, rap e discoteca do hip-hop surgiram do ambiente deprimido do centro da cidade, mas desde então evoluíram para uma parte multimilionária da cultura global dominante.
A exposição inicial conta as origens iniciais da história do hip hop e será substituída a cada seis meses pelo próximo estágio do desenvolvimento da cultura. Quando o museu estiver concluído, o espaço de 5570 metros quadrados (5.570 metros quadrados) contará com exposições interativas e imersivas, shows ao vivo, exibições de filmes e seminários.
Um destaque será um console interativo de 'narrativas inovadoras' criado com a Microsoft e o MIT Center for Advanced Virtuality. Leva os visitantes a uma história de hip hop com base em suas respostas a diferentes personagens em um jogo.
"Ele forma uma narrativa personalizada da história do hip hop com base em suas preferências musicais", disse Bucano.
Os artefatos em exibição incluirão a máquina de batidas original de Kurtis Blow e os primeiro e segundo registros de rap já lançados.
A construção está prevista para começar em julho, com a inauguração planejada para marcar 50 anos de hip hop em 2023.

Hip hop - the music, dance, art and fashion phenomenon that went from rough streets into fancy suites in five decades - is getting its own museum in its birthplace in the Bronx, New York.
A small pop-up exhibit gives a preview of the Universal Hip Hop Museum’s permanent home, set to open in 2023 to celebrate the culture’s global history.
To date, “there isn’t a physical place that is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of hip hop history and culture,” the museum’s Executive Director Rocky Bucano said in an interview.
The museum, dreamed up by rappers Kurtis Blow, Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Melly Mel eight years ago, will seek to ensure that “the stories can be told accurately by the people who created the history themselves,” Bucano added.
Other rapper-producer-entrepreneurs have since become partners in the project, including Nas, Ice-T and LL Cool J.
Hip hop was born in the south section of the New York City borough of the Bronx in the United States in the late 1970s. The dancing, rapping and deejaying elements of hip-hop grew out of the depressed inner-city environment but it has since evolved into a multi-billion dollar part of mainstream global culture.
The initial exhibit tells the early origins of hip hop history, and will be replaced every six months with the next stage of the culture’s development. When the museum is complete, the 60,000-square-foot (5,570 square meter) space will feature interactive and immersive exhibits, live shows, film screenings and seminars.
One highlight will be a ‘breakbeat narratives’ interactive console created with Microsoft and the MIT Center for Advanced Virtuality. It takes visitors on a hip hop history based on their responses to different characters in a game.
“It forms a custom narrative of hip hop history based on their musical preferences,” Bucano said.
Artifacts on display will include Kurtis Blow’s original beat box machine, and the first and second rap records ever released.
Construction is set to start in July, with the grand opening planned to mark 50 years of hip hop in 2023.
