Turbo Kid é um daqueles filmes que se fosse visto nos anos 80 teria se tornado um Cult, mas Turbo Kid é de 2015 e o longa é todo inspirado nos filmes dos anos 80 em um mundo pós-apocalipse.
No estilo retrô, Turbo Kid se apropria dos elementos da década de 80 tanto em efeitos 'especiais', GORE (muito), bicicletas BMX (estilo do filme do E.T.) e a trilha sonora composta por Le Matos… e sim, é inspirado em Mad Max (com Mel Gibson) só que em vez de carros as bicicletas é que tomam o lugar de veículos 'velozes'.
Mas Turbo Kid não se trata apenas disso, é muito mais que uma possível perseguição radical de bicicletas. Um destaque no filme é a presença de Apple, Laurence Leboeuf, que se torna amiga de Kid (Munro Chambers).
Sinopse:
Em um futuro pós-apocalíptico, em 1997, Zeus ( Michael Ironside ) controla toda a distribuição de água da região e os sobreviventes sofrem as duras batalhas do dia para sobreviver.
Um jovem catador solitário, Kid, obcecado por histórias em quadrinhos de seu personagem preferido, Turbo Rider, conhece uma misteriosa 'garota' chamada Apple, Laurence Leboeuf.
Juntos encontram o traje tecnológico de Turbo Rider que permite disparar rajadas de plasma. e descobrem que as histórias de Turbo Rider era reais.
É então que Kid assume o traje se tornando Turbo Kid. Quando Apple é sequestrada pela gangue de Zeus, Kid reúne coragem e se prepara para enfrentar Zeus com suas próprias mãos.
Após o lançamento de Turbo Kid, os diretores Yoann-Karl Whissell, Anouk Whissell e François Simard revelaram que um roteiro da sequência de Turbo Kid estava sendo desenvolvido e a história se passaria imediatamente após os eventos do primeiro filme e influência de Mad Max 2 (com Mel Gibson).
Recentemente, 06 de fevereiro de 2020, no podcast Boo Crew no Bloody Disgusting os diretores atualizaram os fãs sobre a ideia da sequência:
'Bem, olhe, já faz muito tempo … Há um script para o Turbo Kid 2. Queremos fazer isso, é tudo o que posso dizer.
É realmente um caso de encontrar os financiadores porque é muito mais ambicioso. É como uma estrada.
Seria muito interessante ver a sequencia de Turbo Kid, principalmente o fato de se passar logo após os eventos do primeiro filme.
Agora é esperar que algum investidor se anime com a ideia deste filme que já foi chamado de Mad Max com Bicicletas BMX, e até com enfeite de unicórnio (risos).

Synopsis:

A young, lonely scavenger, Kid, obsessed with comic books by his favorite character, Turbo Rider, meets a mysterious 'girl' named Apple, Laurence Leboeuf.
Together they find the technological suit of Turbo Rider that allows to fire bursts of plasma. and discover that the Turbo Rider stories were real.
It is then that Kid takes on the costume becoming Turbo Kid. When Apple is kidnapped by Zeus' gang, Kid musters up courage and prepares to face Zeus with his own hands.
Following the release of Turbo Kid, directors Yoann-Karl Whissell, Anouk Whissell and François Simard revealed that a script for the Turbo Kid sequel was being developed and the story would take place immediately after the events of the first Mad Max 2 film and influence ( with Mel Gibson).
Recently, on February 6, 2020, on the Boo Crew podcast on Bloody Disgusting, the directors updated fans on the idea of the sequel:
'Well, look, it's been a long time ... There's a script for Turbo Kid 2. We want to do that, that's all I can say.
