Competindo praticamente em seu quintal, Leandro Overall ganhou, neste domingo, o título de BMX Freestyle, uma competição que reuniu alguns dos melhores atletas do mundo no esporte. Ele, que ficou em segundo lugar após as duas primeiras apresentações, conseguiu uma volta quase perfeita e deixou o americano Pat Casey para trás.

- Estou muito satisfeito, fiz do jeito que eu queria. Lutamos esta semana para tornar a faixa perfeita e muito legal para o mundo. Estou muito feliz com tudo - disse Leandro.

Leandro vive em Carapicuíba, na região metropolitana de São Paulo, há doze anos, e é uma das pessoas que desenhou a pista para a competição.

O americano Pat Casey, que também era o favorito, fez duas voltas muito boas, uma com 89,00 e outra com 88,67. Como o melhor resultado, Leandro, que desistiu de uma de suas voltas depois de perder uma manobra, conquistou o título.

Gustavo Balaloka, de apenas 17 anos, ficou em quarto lugar. O jovem piloto perdeu duas de suas descidas, mas quando acertou, conseguiu uma boa pontuação. Com 85,67, ele ficou em quarto lugar, também atrás de outro americano, Anthony Napolitan.
