O skatista Kelvin Hoefler terminou a temporada 2018 com muitos motivos para comemorar. Após passar por dois anos difíceis - sofreu uma grave lesão em 2016 e passou o ano seguinte se recuperando e competindo pouco -, o guarujaense terminou o ano com três títulos importantes (dois nacionais e um internacional) e a vaga garantida na seleção brasileira.

“A temporada foi muito boa, consegui bons resultados. Comecei o ano com o primeiro lugar no X Games de Oslo-NOR, depois garanti quatro bronzes - dois no Circuito Mundial de Street em Londres-ING e Los Angeles-EUA; e outros dois no X Games de Minneapolis-EUA e Sidney-AUS. Aqui no Brasil ganhei o STU de Sapiranga-RS, e fui campeão do STU Open no Rio de Janeiro no mês passado. Encerrei o ano com ‘chave de ouro’”, explicou em entrevista para A Tribuna On Line.
Além dos bons resultados obtidos, Kelvin comemorou bastante o fato de não ter sofrido lesão em 2018. O skatista da seleção brasileira fez questão de lembrar as dificuldades que enfrentou nas duas temporadas anteriores.
“Em 2016 eu sofri uma lesão muito grave na perna, igual ao do Anderson Silva - ex-campeão do UFC que fraturou a perna esquerda em 2013 -, e fiquei fora de todas as competições daquela temporada. Em 2017, eu voltei aos poucos e considerei uma vitória apenas estar competindo”, relembrou.
Expectativa para Tóquio 2020
Pela primeira vez na história dos Jogos Olímpicos teremos uma edição que contará com skatistas competindo. Kevin, então, foi questionado sobre o que ele pensa dessa decisão do Comitê Olímpico Internacional (COI) de incluir a modalidade na disputa.
“Eu acredito que estão apostando na modalidade. O skate é a novidade dos Jogos Olímpicos e vai acontecer no sábado à noite, o horário nobre da Olimpíada. Sinto-me bem positivo. Nunca me imaginei competindo nos Jogos (risos)”, revelou.
Por ser um dos integrantes da seleção brasileira da modalidade, o guarujaense - que mora nos Estados Unidos há alguns anos -, também comentou sobre a expectativa de disputar os Jogos de Tóquio.
“Apesar de não ser fácil se classificar - apenas dois skatistas por categoria vão para as Olimpíadas -, estou bem feliz com a oportunidade. Podem ter certeza que eu irei representar bem o Brasil e trazer alegria para o país”, completou.

"The season was very good, I got good results. I started the year with first place in the X Games of Oslo-NOR, then secured four bronzes - two at the World Street Circuit in London-ING and Los Angeles-USA; and two others at the X Games in Minneapolis-USA and Sydney-AUS. Here in Brazil I won the STU of Sapiranga-RS, and I was champion of the STU Open in Rio de Janeiro last month. I finished the year with a 'golden key', "he explained in an interview for A Tribuna On Line.
In addition to the good results obtained, Kelvin celebrated enough the fact of not having suffered injury in 2018. The skater of the Brazilian team made a point of remembering the difficulties that he faced in the two previous seasons.
"In 2016 I suffered a very bad leg injury, just like Anderson Silva - a former UFC champion who fractured his left leg in 2013 - and I was out of all competitions for that season. In 2017, I came back and I considered a victory just to be competing, "he recalled.
Expectation for Tokyo 2020
For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games we will have an edition that will feature competing skaters. Kevin was then questioned about what he thinks of this decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to include the modality in the dispute.
"I believe they are betting on the sport. Skateboarding is the novelty of the Olympic Games and will happen on Saturday night, the prime time of the Olympics. I feel good positive. I never imagined myself competing in the Games (laughs), "he revealed.
For being one of the members of the Brazilian team of the sport, the Guarani - who has lived in the United States for some years - also commented on the expectation of playing the Tokyo Games.
"Although it is not easy to qualify - only two skaters per category are going to the Olympics - I'm really happy with the opportunity. You can be sure that I will represent Brazil well and bring joy to the country, "he added.
