A conquista veio com a vitória na etapa do WQS de Rey De La Montaria do Mundial de Skate Downhill, em Cocha Paccha, no Peru, no fim de semana passado. Ele já havia vencido o WQS de Membrillal Cuesta Abajo, no Equador, além de outras três etapas do WC - pontuação maior -, em Newton's, na Austrália; Arirang Hill, na Coréia do Sul; e Kozakov, na República Tcheca.

Com a conquista, ele se torna o primeiro skatista a ser campeão mundial em duas categorias diferentes. Dalua também é bicampeão mundial - 2012 e 2013 - de downhill pela categoria open. Ele ainda disputa mais uma etapa do circuito mundial em Huallin, também no Peru, e a última etapa do ano no Rio de Janeiro, em busca do título sul-americano, que pode lhe garantir a tríplice coroa, com os títulos brasileiro, sul-americano e mundial nesta temporada.

"Foi o campeonato no qual eu fiquei mais tenso. Queria muito finalizar o ano com uma vitória e sabia o quanto seria difícil, o quanto eu teria que me esforçar. Pode ser vaidade minha, mas eu queria muito ganhar essa corrida pra fechar essa série invicta. Das cinco corridas que eu corri do Mundial, venci as cinco. Não poderia ser melhor. Estou muito feliz", comemorou. "Sou vitorioso no meu esporte e vou deixar um legado legal, mostrando que tu pode conseguir o que quiser com esforço e foco nos objetivos", afirmou Dalua.

Ela venceu a etapa na categoria feminino e segue com chances de conquistar o pentacampeonato Sul-Americano de Skate Downhill. "Foi minha primeira vitória fora do Brasil. Esse ano foi difícil. Fiz uma rifa para arrecadar dinheiro e poder correr estas duas etapas aqui no Peru e uma no Rio. quero agradecer quem ajudou", destacou Melissa.
